This impactful initiative forms part of a growing legacy at Soneike High. It builds on the YCAP waste management project introduced last year, where learners began addressing environmental challenges within their community. Now, a new group of Grade 8 learners is continuing that mission under the banner of the Eike Eco Champions, showing that sustainability at Soneike is not a once-off event, but a movement.
Soneike High School hosted the launch of a poetry anthology on Saturday 14 February, bringing together learners, families, teachers and community members to celebrate young creative voices of local writers.
The Soneike High HESOP team recently participated in the Robben Island Freedom Camp, an enriching and transformative experience that we used to prepare our learners for the upcoming HESOP (Heritage Education Schools Outreach Programme) competition in August.
Principal Ronel Baker said the learners exceeded the previous pass rate throughout the year. Baker noted that the school has a strong focus on “gateway subjects” such as mathematics, physical science, accounting, economics and agricultural science.
Our Interhouse Athletics Day 2026 was a vibrant celebration of school spirit, unity, and healthy competition. All four houses competed with pride and enthusiasm.
