Soneike High School’s class of 2024 achieved a 90,3% pass rate – considerably more than the 78,8% pass rate in 2023. Just more than half of the class (51%) is eligible to pursue Bachelor degree studies. Principal Ronel Baker described it as a heartening display of resilience and grit.
“This remarkable feat is a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, particularly in core subjects. “Notably, our top achievers excelled in science and mathematics, with subjects like physical science, life sciences, agricultural science, and geography featuring prominently.” The school’s top achiever, Wade Hammit, passed with an outstanding 91% average. Soneike High School’s brand new, fully equipped multimedia centre and library—valued at R1 million— was officially handed over on Tuesday 22 April. The school's efforts to provide its learners with access to computers for research and academic work have finally been realised, thanks to a generous donation from the South African Muslim Charitable Trust (SAMCT)..
Principal Ronel Baker said a media centre and library had long been a dream. "Magic happens when vision, passion, perseverance and partnerships come together," Baker said. "Education can progress in our country when we have good partners."
